Sue Healy organized a symposium on Animal Cognition at the 9th International Symposium of Integrative Zoology in Xining, China. It was a truly amazing experience: we met and made many new friends, both at the conference and around Xining and Beijing. I can't wait to go back!

Me, Sue Healy, Mark Mainwaring and Jim Reynolds organized a symposium on The form and Function of Bird Nests at the EOU2017 in Turku, Finland. I presented some of Alexis Breen's PhD work (see poster below) while she was busy running an experiment back home in St Anderws.

We are so sad to say au revoir to Cléemence Bonneaud, who has spent the past eight weeks working with Alexis on a project examining the mechanisms of social learning about nest building in zebra finches in our lab. We wish her the best of luck! Clém is returning to Université Paris 13 to finish her Master's I (Ethology) program.
The Conference on Comparative Cognition (C03) was packed with great talks and events again this year. First, congratulations to Alexis Breen for winning the Ron Weisman Memorial Outstanding Student Presentation! I also organized and chaired a mentor session aimed at undergraduate and graduate students attending the conference. Below is the poster from the mentor session
